Simple tiling texture
Comment:
This texture is made from a single bump map. All four edges of the bump map image are the same so it will tile nicely even if it is UV mapped onto a cube. The bump map is a 16 bit tiff file that is 1,000 pixels square.

The example image is a cube that has a UV mapped it with the New Quad Polygon Map command. This command makes a UV map in which each selected quad polygon fills the whole UV space. This texture tiles over the object once for each quad polygon. When the texture is applied with this UV map it tiles seamlessly around the cube. Each face has one copy of the image. I then subdivided the cube several times with the faceted option and subpatched it. In Layout I enabled bump displacement (Objects Properties panel, Deform tab, Enable Bump check box) to get the 3D wrinkles.
The sphere is the same box subdivided with the metaform option and then spherized.
