Is this why AMD cpu performance in Lightwave is so bad?

As you may or may not be aware AMD has filed suit against Intel. One of AMD’s claims in the antitrust case is that their compiler creates code that is biased towards Intel processors.

All this got me thinking about how Newtek has made a big thing in the past of using the Intel compiler to improve the speed of Lightwave and how AMD processors have never really excelled when it comes to rendering speeds.

So… for one moment I would like you to consider these possibilities:

  • the Intel compiler does not allow Lightwave to make full use of AMD’s processor capabilities
  • the Lightwave 64-bit edition, which is also compiled using the Intel compiler, will subsequently suffers from the same problems

    • Naturally the above statements are hypothetical and have yet to be proven 100% and acknowledged by either Newtek or Intel.

    So I offer you the following supporting material that currently suggests the above to be true.
